The TGPS Story
The former Teck Ghee Primary School merged with Chong Li Primary School in December 2002 to form the present Teck Ghee Primary School.
Teck Ghee Primary School was established in 1979 and located at 1 Ang Mo Kio Street 42. The School was officially opened in April 1989 by Mr Lee Yoke Suan, then MP of Cheng San CC. Having started at 1 Ang Mo Kio Street 42 on 10 July 1979, it was the third government school built in Ang Mo Kio.
Chong Li Primary School was officially opened in September 1983 by Mr S Chandra Das, then MP for Chong Boon CC. It started in 1981, holding classes in the old premises of Braddell Secondary School. It was then shifted to 4 Ang Mo Kio Street 44. In year 2000, it once again relocated to a holding premises at 6 Ang Mo Kio Street 44.
In 2002, Teck Ghee Primary School merged with Chong Li Primary School to form the present Teck Ghee Primary School. In 2003, the new Teck Ghee Primary School functioned at its new school building, located at 1 Ang Mo Kio Street 32. In 2017, the school celebrated its 15th school anniversary. In 2022, the school celebrated its 20th school anniversary, with the theme being Learn. Dream. Inspire.
School Crest
The school crest comprises of a star, a globe, the constellation and a pair of wings.
The star symbolizes our belief that every child can realise his or her potential to shine brightly, and we aspire to bring out the star quality in each of them.
The globe represents the important part our students can play in the global and local communities.
The constellation represents our journey of lifelong learning and construction of new knowledge.
The pair of wings symbolizes the school soaring to greater heights, in search of higher aspirations and excellence.
Our motto ‘Aspire and Achieve’ urges teachers and students to be anchored on strong moral values, set their sights high, and strive towards a common goal.
The pillar with the core values, ‘TGPS’, represents our effort in achieving our aspirations. Our core values are Team Spirit, Graciousness, Perseverance and Self-Discipline.
